ABOUT JEROME
As a Nashville native, I honestly did think about diversity or segregation because I grew up in my Black bubble. It wasn’t until I entered the Peace Corps and traveled to Paraguay that I really started to get curious about exploring diversity intersecting with how to build power in communities. This pivotal exposure propelled me into transformative experiences across Costa Rica, China, and the Philippines, teaching me more about myself, the world, life and further igniting my dedication as an explorer of social change.
Returning back home to Nashville I needed to keep exploring and cultivate cultural awareness and acceptance that would help break down barriers. I needed to interact meaningfully with people of different backgrounds, ideas, and lived experiences, and I needed a brave space to do that. In pursuit of this, I established, Deep Dish Conversations.
As we look around at our daily media there is so much content highlighting the problems or challenges of our communities. As a person who has done the work I simply wanted to fill a void of highlighting and exploring all the great solutions that are combating the social constructs that all of our communities are affected by albeit on different levels.
